Poster Draft

This is my finished draft poster and was created using an effect called plaster on photoshop. I think this image leaves a lot unanswered for the audience like my influences with her face being blurred. I also feel that the trees are clear and this will present the setting of my film to the audience and I also like the dark effect that this effect has created with her standing out upon the dark background but also slightly blending in, this could present to the audience that she has a connection with the woods. but I think one thing I may have to consider when it comes to editing my final taken picture is that this was taken when there were still leaves on the trees and my photo will be taken when there isn't. This will mean that there should be less colour in my new image and so an effect like dark strokes which I did like because of how it made her stand out could have a better effect with less colours in the background.

Poster Draft Effects

This effect is called dark strokes and I do like this effect but I feel that the green of the trees stands out too much and unlike my influences theres a great amount of colour within the image, this is why ive chosen not to use this effect.

Although this image does have the dark effect that I wanted to created, I feel that its lacking in detail. This meaning that the image isnt very clear for the audience with the bottom of the poster being almost completly black. This isnt the type of image I was trying to create.

Problems- cast

Towards the last few days before I had planned to begin filming the two people, Megan Balko and Emmy Yoneda, who I had originally chosen to be my victim and scary girl couldn't star in my film trailer, so this left me ringing people in the penultimate day before filming searching for people who I felt were suited to the characters’ I wanted to create. This issue was very difficult to resolve and I have definitely learned from the problem and so in future projects i will ensure that i have a contingency plan ready just in case things out of my control go wrong.

Costumes

The Abductor

I have chosen to dress my abductor in a tracksuit, this is a stereotype of many trouble makers especially within the 21st century and so wanting to appeal to the current film audience and wanting them to understand his role within the film I've decided that this will the be an easily recognisable appearance. Also the use of a hood will hide his face which will add an element of mystery to the trailer.

The Scary Girl

The main reason I dressed her in a white nightgown is the innocence that it portrays because of its simple bright appearance. Also the simple white will contrast against the darkness of my video, this will make her stand out when i film. Also to fit in with the storyline the use of a nightgown shows that she was abducted from her bed. I chose not to give her any footwear as i wanted the white dress to be the focus and again she wouldn't have been wearing any when in bed.

The Victim

I wanted her to look like she was coming from a party within winter and so i decided to dress her in tights, a rose patterned dress and also a white cardigan, the white and red will make her stand out when I film. While also forming a connection with her and the scary girl who also is wearing white. The use of red is common within films of a dark nature and is a representation of blood and pain.

Chosen Poster Draft Image

This is the image I have chosen to use and I feel it works well to give the audience an introduction to the film by showing the woods clearly. I also feel that the girl is well positioned within the image being the dominant part and this will mean that she will stand out against the background when I take my final poster image. I also think that there's enough space left above and below the scary girl to put text.

Rejected Draft Poster Images

I do like this image and I like the how the scary girl is standing in the distance through the trees and is right in the middle of the image but I feel that it doesn't make her as dominant as I want her to be and instead the victim has a greater part in the image. I also feel that the image isn't clear enough and there's too much going on like the branches, the victim running and the scary girl standing in the distance.

I think that this image shows the scary girl to be too dominant with her taking up the whole image, I also don't feel that i have shown enough of the setting of the film, the woods. I also don't like the low angle, I think it makes her seem overly powerful and less innocent which is one of the major feelings i wanted to create.

I prefer this image to the other two as there's an element of mystery to it and also the woods has a greater part within the image with the tree being quite central but I don't feel there's enough space to include writing within the image and i feel that the scary girl may be just a little too big.

This image presents to the audience the feeling of power as the scary girl stands above her but again I feel I didn't show enough of the woods and i also think that the image looks quite unclear with the audience being unable to tell who's the victim and who isn't. There is an element of mystery to it though with neither of their faces being visible. but again there is no space left for text.

This is the best of my rejected images. I feel this because its quite a chilling image with the girl standing far in the background over the shoulder of my victim and I also like how you can see the woods. But I don't think you can see enough and I think that the victims face takes up too much of the image with no clear space for writing to be positioned.
